Fair Rent Commission to Mark Forty Years of Service
(11/22/2010) (New Haven)-- On December 7, 2010, The Fair Rent Commission City of New Haven will commemorate 40 years of service by holding a community forum entitled -Who, How and What Determines a “Fair” Market Rent. The forum will take place in aldermanic meeting room 1 at the New Haven City Hall located at 165 Church Street at 6:00 P.M. Established December 7, 1970, by State Statutes and City Ordinance the Fair Rent Commission was created to control and eliminate excessive rental charges on residential property within the city of New Haven, in recognition of a compelling need for rent stabilization for the duration of a severe housing shortage in New Haven.
